Terms of Service

The agreement that governs your use of Homeostat. It covers what the Service is and is not, what we each are responsible for, and the limits of our liability.

The short version

A plain-language orientation only. The numbered sections below are the binding text.

  • Homeostat is an educational research reference and a personal health record. It is not medical advice, and it is not a medical device.
  • We do not sell, supply, or prescribe any compound. Complying with the law where you live is your responsibility.
  • Your health data stays yours. You can export it or delete it at any time.
  • AI extraction from documents is imperfect by nature, so you review every value before it is saved.
  • The Service is free, under active development, and provided without warranties. Our liability is limited.
  • You must be 18 or older to use the Service.

1Agreement to these terms

These Terms of Service (the “Terms”) form a binding agreement between you and Homeostat Health LLC, a Utah limited liability company (“Homeostat”, “we”, “us”), and govern your access to and use of the Homeostat website, application, and related services (together, the “Service”).

By creating an account, or by otherwise accessing or using the Service, you confirm that you have read these Terms and agree to be bound by them. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

Our Privacy Policy is incorporated into these Terms by reference and explains how we handle your personal and health information.

2What Homeostat is

The Service has two distinct parts, and different terms matter to each.

  • A public research reference. A directory of compounds with graded evidence summaries, cited studies, regulatory status by jurisdiction, and sourcing context. This is editorial and educational material compiled from published research and public regulatory records.
  • A private health record. For signed-in users, a place to record and review your own health metrics — workouts and activity, sleep and vitals, weight and body composition, imaging and scan results, blood panels and biomarkers, nutrition, and administered doses — from manual entry, uploaded documents, and connected data sources.

We are not a healthcare provider, pharmacy, laboratory, compounding facility, supplier, or reseller. We do not sell, supply, prescribe, dispense, or facilitate the purchase of any compound, medication, or supplement, and nothing on the Service is an offer to do so.

3Eligibility and your account

You must be at least 18 years old to use the Service. The Service is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly permit anyone under 18 to create an account or submit health information.

You agree to provide accurate registration information, to keep your credentials confidential, and to be responsible for all activity under your account. Notify us at legal@homeostat.health promptly if you believe your account has been accessed without your authorization.

One account is for one person. Do not share an account, and do not use another person’s account.

4The Service is not medical advice

Read this section carefully.

Homeostat provides information and record-keeping tools. It does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment, and it is not a substitute for the judgment of a qualified healthcare professional.

  • Using the Service does not create a physician–patient, clinician–patient, or any other professional or fiduciary relationship between you and us.
  • Nothing on the Service is a recommendation to take, stop, adjust, or combine any compound, medication, supplement, dose, or protocol. Always consult a licensed professional who knows your medical history before making any health decision.
  • Evidence grades, trends, charts, summaries, and any generated insights are informational signals only. They are not clinical findings, and they are not validated for diagnostic use. The Service is not a medical device, and we do not offer it as one.
  • Reference ranges and flags shown alongside lab values are general and may not be correct for you. Interpret results only with your clinician and against your issuing laboratory’s own ranges.
  • Never delay or disregard professional medical advice because of something you read on the Service.

Medical emergencies

The Service is not monitored, and it will not detect or respond to a medical emergency. If you think you may be experiencing one, call your local emergency number or go to the nearest emergency department immediately.

5Research content, evidence grades, and suppliers

We compile the research reference in good faith and describe our grading approach openly on our methodology page. We do not warrant that it is complete, current, or free of error.

  • Evidence grades are editorial judgments, not statements of fact, safety, or efficacy. Research evolves and a grade may lag behind newly published findings.
  • Regulatory and legal status changes frequently and varies by jurisdiction. Any status we display is general information about a regulatory framework as of a stated date. It is not legal advice and must be verified locally.
  • Listing is not endorsement. The presence of a compound, supplier, facility, or study in the directory is not a recommendation, a certification of quality, purity, or legality, or a warranty of any kind. We have no control over, and accept no responsibility for, any third party described on the Service.
  • External links and citations are provided for verification. We do not endorse and are not responsible for third-party content.

6Your responsibility for legal compliance

Many substances described on the Service are prescription-only, controlled, restricted, banned in competition, or lawful only for laboratory research, and these classifications differ from country to country and sometimes from state to state.

You are solely responsible for determining and complying with every law and regulation that applies to you, and for any consequence of obtaining, possessing, administering, or using any substance. You agree not to use the Service to plan, facilitate, or carry out any unlawful activity, and not to treat any content as authorization to do so.

You may not use the Service if you are barred from doing so under applicable sanctions or export-control law.

7Your health records

You retain all rights in the health data, documents, and images you submit (“Your Data”). We claim no ownership of Your Data.

You grant us a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, copy, transmit, process, and display Your Data solely to operate and secure the Service for you — including running the extraction and reporting features you choose to use. This license exists only to run the Service and ends when you delete the data or your account, subject to the limited retention described in the Privacy Policy.

You represent that you have the right to submit Your Data. Do not upload another identifiable person’s health information unless you are that person’s parent, legal guardian, or authorized representative, or you otherwise have a lawful basis to do so.

You are responsible for keeping your own copies of anything you need to retain. The Service is not a backup service or a system of record for clinical or legal purposes. You can export your full record as a JSON file at any time from Settings.

8AI-assisted extraction

If you enable AI document processing, documents and images you upload are sent to a third-party AI model that attempts to read metrics, units, dates, and dosages out of them. This feature is off unless you turn it on, and you can turn it off at any time in Settings.

  • Extraction is probabilistic and will sometimes be wrong. It can misread a value, a unit, or a date, or miss a result entirely.
  • You must review extracted values before they are saved. Extraction results are presented for your confirmation or correction. Confirming a value is your representation that it matches the source document.
  • Do not rely on extracted output for any clinical decision without checking it against the original report.

We do not use Your Data to train our own models, and we do not permit our AI provider to train its models on it. See the Privacy Policy for detail.

9Connected sources and imports

You may connect third-party sources such as Whoop, or import export files from services and devices such as Apple Health, MyFitnessPal, smart scales, and smart garments. Syncing and importing are off unless you enable third-party data sources in Settings.

  • By connecting an account you authorize us to access and retrieve data from that provider on your behalf, within the scopes you approve, and to store it in your Homeostat record.
  • Your use of any third-party service remains governed by that provider’s own terms and privacy policy. We do not control those services and are not responsible for their data, availability, accuracy, or acts.
  • A provider may change, restrict, price, or discontinue its interface at any time, which may break a connection without notice. We do not guarantee continued availability of any integration.
  • You may disconnect a source at any time. Disconnecting stops further syncing and revokes the credentials we hold; data already saved to your record remains until you delete it.

10Contributions to the research record

The Service lets users submit research citations, compound information, corrections, and similar material (“Contributions”). Contributions are editorial material about published science, not personal health data, and they are reviewed before anything is published.

For any Contribution, you grant us a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, sublicensable license to use, reproduce, adapt, publish, and distribute it as part of the Service and our research record, with or without attribution.

You represent and warrant that each Contribution:

  • is yours to submit, and does not infringe any third party’s rights;
  • is accurate to the best of your knowledge and fairly represents the source it cites;
  • contains no confidential information, no unpublished data you are not free to share, and no personal or health information about any identifiable person; and
  • is not promotional material for a product or supplier.

We may edit, decline, or remove any Contribution at our discretion, and we are under no obligation to publish or retain one. Editorial and reviewer access is granted only to authorized accounts.

11Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • access, or attempt to access, another user’s account or data, or circumvent any authentication, authorization, or tenant boundary;
  • probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of the Service, or breach or circumvent any security or rate-limiting measure, except under a security-research disclosure we have authorized in writing;
  • scrape, crawl, or bulk-extract the Service or use it to build a competing dataset or product, except as permitted by our robots directives or with our written consent;
  • reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to derive source code, except to the extent applicable law expressly permits it;
  • upload malware, or content that is unlawful, infringing, defamatory, or harassing;
  • upload another identifiable person’s health information without a lawful basis;
  • impose an unreasonable load on our infrastructure, or use automated means to create accounts or submit content;
  • misrepresent the Service as a diagnostic tool, medical device, or a source of medical advice, or resell or sublicense access to it; or
  • remove, obscure, or alter any proprietary notice, disclaimer, or source attribution.

12Our intellectual property

The Service — including its software, design, editorial content, evidence grades, methodology, compiled directory, and the Homeostat name and marks — is owned by us or our licensors and is protected by intellectual property law. We grant you a limited, revocable, non-transferable, non-sublicensable license to use the Service for your own personal, non-commercial purposes in accordance with these Terms. No other rights are granted.

Third-party study abstracts, citations, and regulatory texts referenced on the Service remain the property of their respective owners and are used for identification, citation, and commentary.

13Feedback

If you send us suggestions, bug reports, or ideas about the Service, you grant us an unrestricted, perpetual, irrevocable, royalty-free right to use them for any purpose without obligation or compensation to you. Please do not send us anything you consider confidential.

14Price, availability, and changes to the Service

The Service is currently provided free of charge and is under active development. Features may be added, changed, restricted, or removed, and parts of the Service may be incomplete, experimental, or unreliable.

We may introduce paid plans in the future. If we do, we will describe the pricing and terms before you are asked to pay, and no charge will apply to you without your express agreement.

We do not promise any particular level of availability, uptime, or support, and we may suspend the Service for maintenance or for reasons outside our control.

15Suspension, termination, and deletion

You may stop using the Service at any time, and you may delete your data or your account from Settings. Deletion is permanent — it removes your metrics, protocol records, uploaded files, connected-source credentials, and consent records, and it cannot be undone.

We may suspend or terminate your access, with notice where reasonably practicable, if you materially breach these Terms, if your use creates a legal or security risk, or if we are required to do so by law. We may also discontinue the Service as a whole, in which case we will give you reasonable advance notice and an opportunity to export your data.

Sections that by their nature should survive — including sections 4 through 7 and 12 through 21 — survive termination.

16Disclaimer of warranties

Provided “as is”.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Service and all content are provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranty of any kind. We expressly disclaim all warranties, express, implied, or statutory, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, non-infringement, and any warranty arising from course of dealing or usage of trade.

We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free; that any content, evidence grade, legal status, extracted value, trend, or insight is accurate, complete, or current; that defects will be corrected; or that the Service will meet your requirements or produce any particular health outcome.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits any right you have that cannot be excluded or limited under the law that applies to you.

17Limitation of liability

Limits on what we owe you.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, goodwill, data, or anticipated savings, arising out of or relating to your use of the Service — even if we have been advised of the possibility.

Our total aggregate liability for all claims relating to the Service will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim, or one hundred United States dollars (US$100).

These limits apply regardless of the theory of liability and reflect an agreed allocation of risk for a service provided free of charge.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited. If applicable law does not allow a limitation above, that limitation applies only to the extent permitted, and the remainder stays in force.

18Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Homeostat Health LLC and its officers, employees, and agents from any third-party claim, demand, loss, liability, or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your use of the Service, your Contributions, your submission of another person’s information, your breach of these Terms, or your violation of any law or third-party right. This does not apply to the extent the claim arises from our own breach or unlawful conduct, and we may assume the defense of any such claim at our own expense.

19Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Utah, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. The courts located in that jurisdiction have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute, and you and we consent to their venue — except that either party may seek injunctive relief in any competent court to protect its intellectual property or confidential information.

If you are a consumer resident in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or another jurisdiction whose law grants you a non-waivable right to bring proceedings in, or to the protection of the law of, your place of residence, this section does not deprive you of that right.

Before filing a claim, please contact us at legal@homeostat.health; most disputes can be resolved informally.

20Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms as the Service changes or the law requires. If a change is material, we will give reasonable advance notice — by email, or by a prominent notice in the Service — before it takes effect, and we will update the “Last updated” date above. Continuing to use the Service after a change takes effect means you accept the revised Terms. If you do not accept them, stop using the Service and delete your account.

21General terms

Entire agreement

These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and us about the Service, and supersede any prior understanding on the subject.

Severability and waiver

If a provision is held unenforceable, it will be limited or severed to the minimum extent necessary and the rest remains in force. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it.

Assignment

You may not assign these Terms without our written consent. We may assign them to an affiliate or in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, provided the recipient assumes our obligations, including those in the Privacy Policy.

Force majeure

Neither party is liable for a failure to perform caused by an event beyond its reasonable control, excluding payment obligations.

No third-party beneficiaries

These Terms create no rights for anyone other than you and us.
